"Mine was a hobby that turned into a successful business. I started out by designing interiors for friends and using my artwork to create a unique ambiance," explained Heather Shuttleworth, who established HMS Interior Design last year in Horsforth.

"I have always had a keen interest in interior design and studied at the Regional Academy of Fine Arts in London, achieving my Diploma with distinction. In addition, my previous experience as a sales Negotiator for several local estate Agents gave me an insight into people's varied tastes; what makes houses attractive and what it takes to make them sell?" added Heather.

This meant that Heather had a head start when it came to establishing her own business and HMS Interior Design offers clients the chance to give their homes a truly individual design that reflects their personality.

The first part of the consultation will be completing a simple lifestyle questionnaire. This gives Heather the opportunity to find out more about you and what you want from the design, by establishing the feel and look that you desire. "We do not impose our ideas," emphasized Heather, "but guide and advise the client to achieve their vision!"

The second part of the consultation involves defining the size and scope of the project, which, of course, will be tailored to your individual requirements and budget. This could range from simple advice, typically two to three hour consultations, costing £35 per hour, to full room design, usually costing about £250-£500 per room, depending on the size and complexity. For that major refurbishment, we also offer the Project Management Service, the cost structure of which is agreed after the initial consultation.
