Tom, Dick and Harry

There is a certain mystique about Tom Dick & Harry's Restaurant at Wetherby. Firstly, its location and secondly the building it’s firmly established in. Tucked away on the Thorpe Arch Trading Estate and completely hidden from view it's hard to believe that the restaurant was once a derelict industrial unit! Its total transformation over the last eighteen months is down to the hard work and vision of working owners Louise and David Rockwood who have created a modern light and airy feel to the interior, complemented by a neutral colour scheme throughout.
Upon arrival at 7.30 pm, we were pleased to find ample parking right outside the door, we were meeted, greeted and seated immediately (our choice). We were informed that the restaurant was non-smoking and shown the specials board and guest wine board.
The children decided that they were happy just to devour the complimentary freshly baked bread. My partner on the other hand, opted for Goats Cheese with onion chutney and grapes (£4.25). After some deliberation, I choose Hot King Prawns with a garlic and sweet chilli tomato sauce served on olive bread (£5.75). Both were excellent and the prawn sauce had a wicked and warming kick, perfect on a chilly January evening.
Our expectations of what was to follow were high and this point, I have to add that we were spoilt for choice with an extensive range of mouth-watering dishes. This being said, the children had ordered pizzas after seeing a fellow diners offering. My dish was from the specials board, Pan Fried Sea Bass and Salmon Fillet, the Sea Bass golden on the outside but light and flakey in texture, delicious. My partner ordered Roast Chicken Breast, wrapped in bacon with asparagus and a creamy mushroom sauce which could not be faulted. Both were accompanied by roast potatoes and colourful slightly al dente vegetables.
I had taken the opportunity to have a look at the comprehensive wine list and the additional guest wine specials board. The list offers something for everyone, including the very wonderful and often elusive ‘Cloudy Bay’.
I was far too full to contemplate dessert; my partner though could not resist Sticky Toffee Pudding served with lashings of cream (£3.95) and the children plumped for homemade ice cream. The older of the two (who is not easily impressed) was in raptures over the Banana and Ginger, apparently the best he's ever had!
