Korks - Wine Bar & Brasserie

I recently visited Korks Wine Bar & Brasserie in Otley with a friend, we had decided we wanted a night out but really didn't fancy the hustle and bustle of Leeds city centre. We decided to venture out to Otley, a small town on the outskirts of Leeds. We arrived at Korks and I have to say it has all the trappings of a cool gastro pub. The inside is inviting and almost "country pub" like with stone wall interiors and an inviting bar area. On the whole it has a very rustic feel, perfect for the cold wintry nights that we have now to look forward to for the next few months.

On arrival we made our way to the bar. After a hard day at work both Helen and I were ready for a large glass of wine. The wine list at Korks is very extensive so we had no trouble in finding something that suited both our palates. We opted for a glass of Pinot, a nice change from our normal glass of rose. The bar was busy so the atmosphere was relaxing, there were a few groups having dinner and the mix of people was really nice.

After a glass of wine we were ready to order, there are no menus at Korks, just a huge blackboard with a massive selection of dishes. I opted for a smoked salmon starter and Helen had the pate. Both were good sized dishes, well presented and very, very tasty. For mains we had tuna steak and a prawn dish. I had the tuna and it was cooked to perfection - succulent and tasty. By this time we were full but girls being girls we had to have a look at the sweet menu. To make us feel less greedy we decided that we would get one sweet but two spoons. We opted for sticky toffee pudding (a favourite of mine) and it was divine, we were almost fighting to get possession of it! We then had coffee and a relax before heading off home.

The waiting staff were very attentive and approachable; the food was delicious so all in all Korks is well worth a drive out to.
