The Wine Review

Bottle of Wine

Premier Brut, 2002 France

This single estate French fizz is a quality wine made from 100% Chenin Blanc from the village of Mountlouis near Vouvray in the heart of the Loire Valley. Green Gold tints with a fine and persistent mousse, delicious Bramley apple aromas with a lemony citrus note and a creamy, concentrated mid-palate, with good texture leading to a fine and long finish. Chateau Ramage La Batisse, 1998 France

Located on the left bank of the Gironde in the Haut Medoc near Pauillac and its classified growths, sharing similar soils that are a mix of gravel and sand. The motto of Ramage La Batisse is Òrigour and qualityÓ. The wine is packed with ripe soft fruit with an abundance of mellow tannins, which give this wine its great length and balance. Nicely aged the 1998 is drinking well now and will complement most dinner parties over the festive season.

Deen. Vat s. Botrytis Semillon , 2002 Autralia

Now for the naughty but nice part, the pudding wine. Intense flavours, citrus, apricot and honey combined with vanillin oak. Made from botrytis infected Semillon fruit (one of natures blessings). A crisp acid balance gives this wine a lingering after-palate. Ideal for that touch of luxury.
