How Much?
According to recent research by a leading credit card
company, about 25% of the population will attend a
wedding this year. Believe it or not the estimated cost of
each guest will just tipple the £300 barrier.
When you take into consideration your accommodation, your room bill, the present, getting there and last but not least, your new clobber. It soon ads up.
Different Areas = Different Costs
Apparently if you live in East England 31% will attend a wedding this year and over 78% will wear a hat. People in the South, especially London, will spend just under £480 just to go to a wedding. (That’s a cheap holiday for the rest of us!)
People in the East also spend the most on presents. Averaging £193 a present. Folk in the West Midlands spend the least on presents. Averaging only £39 on a gift, their neighbours in East Midlands spend £46.
Stag & Hen Night Costs
No more, “Let’s have a good night out in Leeds or Harrogate”. Oh no, a week in Prague and weekends in Vegas are becoming the norm. Over 43% of women attending hen parties and over 66% of men attending stag dos will spend at least one night away. 18% of men will actually spend more than four nights away.
Women’s cost per hen night will be £152. Whilst men’s costs will be £257. All this is on top of the wedding guest cost. Then there is the food, booze and other sundries, men £129 and women £71. The big question is can you afford to be a wedding guest, especially now you have seen it in black and white?
