Spa treats for brides to be
The venue is booked, the dress chosen, the invites sent,
now its time for some pre-wedding pampering. Tania
and Kate, friends and sister-in-laws to be, are both
getting married in a few months. In need of some ‘me’
time, they decided to take advantage of the bridal
package on offer at the luxurious Champneys health
hydro in Tring, Hertfordshire.
Set in stunning countryside Tring is just the place for some serious unwinding, after all the planning and preparations that go into organising a wedding. The bridal package gave the girls the opportunity to learn about wedding make-up and how to prepare their skin and body so that they can be glowing, beautiful brides on their special day.
Firstly, the girls were greeted with a welcoming glass of bucks fizz; this set the tone for some serious self indulgence. They were also given a complimentary bridal gift basket containing lots of lovely goodies, a fluffy white gown, a bottle of pink champagne, and a generous pack of Champneys beauty products.
The bridal package includes, a massage, a manicure and a make up session with a specially trained Champneys make up advisor. However, to make the most of the visit, the girls booked extra treatments, and made use of the extensive facilities at Tring.
They both opted for a deep tissue massage to relieve tension and relax their muscles. They also had an Elemis facial which enabled them to learn more about their skin type, and how best to take care of it. The highly qualified staff advised on the best products to use and were able to give the girls an analysis of their type of skin. After the treatment, they were given a ‘prescription’ which included a suggested list of beauty products, best suited to their skin type. The resort has two beauty boutiques, one stocking Champneys own brand products, which are very good quality and excellent value for money, and another which stocks the more expensive products, such as Elemis and La Prairie.
The make up session, proved to be very worthwhile for both girls. Kate, who usually wears little make-up, was pleasantly surprised by how some cleverly applied products enhanced her features without looking overly made up. Tania, who is creative with her make-up, decided to experiment with a softer look around her eyes and a more pronounced lip colour. Both girls found the session inspirational and gave them lots of ideas for their
wedding day make up. The beauty therapist used products created by top celebrity make up artist Daniel Sandler, whose reputation is renowned; his products are featured in many fashion magazines. The make up is only available for sale in Harrods and Champneys.
The resort is housed in an elegant former Rothschild Mansion, set in acres of wooded parkland, glorious for walking or cycling between treatments. The interior of the building is stylish contemporary with a new designer sleek spa, twenty five metre pool, high-tech gym and thalassotherapy pool with mineral rich seawater. There is also a huge range of fitness classes available and a health and well being centre.
Within the resort there are two cafés, one situated near the treatment areas, perfect for a relaxing hydrating drink between treatments, and the terrace café, which has tables inside and out overlooking delightful gardens which surround the building. Guests can relax outside on sunny days on the terrace decked areas, either at smart wooden tables and chairs, or on contoured sun beds, and enjoy the outdoor hot tub. The café serves a tempting menu of super healthy smoothies with names that inspire, such as ‘Cardio Angel’ (Blueberry, Raspberry, banana and fresh apple juice), which we are told, lowers cholesterol, enhances metabolism and maintains a healthy heart, tastes gorgeous too!
The main restaurant is in the original old part of the building, a large spacious elegant dining area, where fresh and healthy menus are served. With an award-winning chef, guests need not worry about being deprived of good food. The choice is generous and the food delicious and well presented. Wine is offered with dinner. However, alcohol is restricted to the dining area only.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed their pampering and both decided this could be an excellent idea for their hen parties. They even thought their guys might enjoy a pre-wedding package, after all they want their groom to look good too!
