Checklist - 1 week before
With only a week to go before the wedding there are some essential things to organise and bear in mind. The wedding dress and bridesmaid’s outfits should be collected and the dress tried on with whoever will be helping on the big day.
All details should be reconfirmed with suppliers and staff involved on the day including cakes, flowers, photographs, hair and make-up stylists. A list of telephone numbers should be made in case of any emergencies on the day. These should include local taxi firms, the wedding party’s mobiles and suppliers.
Last minute RSVP’s should be chased and the final seating plan should be drawn up. This seating plan should then be copied for the caterer, photographer and best man. Place cards should be put into envelopes for the caterers laying the tables, allowing one envelope per table. Final numbers should then be confirmed and dietary requirements or special requests put to the caterers.
Brief the ushers and organise reserve seating for the ceremony. Always watch the weather forecast and make any provisions in the event of extreme weather conditions such as umbrellas, blankets, fans and bottles of water. Check the details for pre-/post-wedding lunch or rehearsal dinner if necessary and pack luggage for the honeymoon, including new passport.
The best man should be briefed on any final payments that are due on the day and any cash or cheques should be provided as required. The best man and chief bridesmaid should be briefed on any final logistics and last minute duties. Any individuals responsible for rental returns after the wedding should be confirmed.
A list of important family and friends for the photographer should be drawn up with a copy for the best man. Check on timings for the wedding rehearsal and so on and tell parents, minister/registrar, bridesmaids and ushers.
Finally, the couple should spend some quality time together, and try to enjoy time with family and close friends.
